Minnesota Twins Sign Infielder
The Minnesota Twins have signed Daniel Robertson to a minor league contract.
Robertson spent the 2021 campaign with the Milwaukee Brewers. In 50 games with the team, he had two home runs, four RBIs, and a .164 batting average. Due to his struggles, Milwaukee decided to outright off their 40-man roster. As a result of this, the 27-year-old was able to sign this contract during the lockout as a minor league free agent.
Robertson could be a nice utility player for the Twins to have if he's able to make their major league roster. He is capable of playing second base, shortstop, and third base, so he should come in handy when injuries arise or when players need a rest day. He also played in the majors in each of the last five seasons, so it isn't far-fetched to believe that he could once again in 2022 with the Twins.
In 299 career games between the Tampa Bay Rays, San Francisco Giants, and Brewers, he has 18 home runs, 78 RBIs, and a .227 batting average. It will be interesting to see if he can build on these numbers as a member of the Twins.
Overall, this isn't a bad signing for Minnesota. At worst, Robertson will stay in the minors.
