Insider Source Optimistic: Labor Deal Possible By Monday Night
After months (and recent days) of doom and gloom, one MLB Insider has found an optimistic source and is reporting that the two sides "are within striking distance", and that we could have a deal by Monday night.
Contradictory to all the negativity/ upset surrounding the MLB/players talks, one person involved said he believes the sides are now “within striking distance” and a deal could be done be tomorrow night. Luxury tax remains the sticky issue but a 225/230M threshold should work.

This seems to be in direct contrast to the negativity that came out of the Saturday talks, and as Jon Heyman notes, the luxury tax is still a sticking point.
On Saturday, the players even considered walking away from the talks, and The Athletic even describe the second bargaining session of the day as "hostile". Ken Rosenthal wrote that MLB responded to the unions' offers "with a collective middle finger."
Commissioner Rob Manfred has imposed a deadline of Monday as the final day to reach an agreement in order to start the season on time on March 31st. Otherwise, games will be cancelled.
According to Jon Heyman, however, we now have at least one source providing a glimmer of hope.
