Derek Jeter Leaving Marlins Over Differences Of "Vision"
After five years with the Miami Marlins, as CEO and part-owner, Hall of Famer Derek Jeter is stepping away from the club, citing a difference of vision for the future.

Joel Sherman of The New York Post fills us in on the New York Yankee legend's statement, including the fact that "the vision for the future of the franchise is different than the one I signed up to lead. Now is the right time for me to step aside as a new season begins."

The 1st-ballot Hall of Famers also owned a 4% stake in the Marlins, which he is also relinquishing.
As the MLB and MLBPA face a critical day to try to save the start of the 2022 season, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic notes that "The timing of the announcement was odd considering not only the perilous state of the labor negotiations, but also the scrutiny the Marlins and certain other low-revenue clubs are facing for their spending habits."
Whatever those differences about the future direction of the team were, we are bound to learn more in the days and weeks to come.
