Bo Bichette’s Father Dante Resigns from Blue Jays

The MLB lockout is a lot of things including annoying and preventative. One of the stipulations organizations must follow at the moment while the two sides negotiate is how employees cannot interact with players. For the Toronto Blue Jays this certainly provided a new wrinkle for star shortstop Bo Bichette and his father Dante, who is a hitting instructor with the team. Turns out dad and son aren't going to break off communication as the elder Bichette has resigned from the team for the time being.

The Blue Jays shortstop was a recent guest of Jeff Blair of Sportsnet and had this to say on the matter:

Yeah, the father-son relationship comes first so my dad resigned from that job to be able to work with me and not have that affect anything. So we'll see happens in the future. But yeah, for right now. He's taken. You know, he wants to be with me as my teammate

Bichette confirmed the news and you can't really blame them as it's likely anyone in that predicament would have done the same if able. With players not being able to work their clubs, Bo and father Dante have been putting in work in the batting cage and at the local high school which is conveniently close to the Bichette's residence. The Blue Jays infielder also touched on the tough end to last season and how the team can get on track for the postseason in 2022:

I think just continue to play hard. I mean, we're all working hard this off-season. I think playing hard honestly is one of the most underestimated things really just giving it all you got. I think an untalented team can win a lot of games doing that. And obviously, we have a lot of talent. So I think if we combine the talent and just go out there and give everything we have, leaving nothing on the table, I think we should be in a good spot

For now, he'll continue to tag team the offseason workouts with Dad and enjoy the family time while he works on mastering his craft for the Blue Jays.
