Atlanta Braves Sign Pitcher
The Atlanta Braves have signed Brandyn Sittinger to a minor league contract.
Sittinger made his major league debut last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In seven games, the 27-year-old had a 0-1 record, 7.71 ERA, and one strikeout. Overall, it wasn't the best of starts to his career, and he found himself outrighted by the team this past October. However, he will now be looking for a second chance at the majors with the Braves.
In 35 appearances last season in the minors, he had a 1-2 record, 4.12 ERA, and 53 strikeouts. He performed much better down there, so there is some hope that he could improve in 2022. Yet, he will need to impress the Braves to earn a call-up to their major league roster.
Overall, there's no harm in the Braves giving Sittinger a chance. At worst, they have added to their pitching depth for the 2022 campaign. However, one shouldn't rule out the possibility of him earning a spot in their bullpen, too.
