Atlanta Braves Hall of Famer Sounds Pessimistic About Freddie Freeman Return
“The Braves have made some offers... didn’t make him happy." Yikes. That's Atlanta Braves' Hall of Famer Chipper Jones speaking on 92.9 The Game in Atlanta this week about current Braves legend, and free agent, Freddie Freeman.
“He’s being courted by some of the prettiest girls on the block right now, he’s gonna listen to them," Jones added, not painting the.. prettiest picture for Braves fans.
In weighing Freeman's options, Jones noted, “I know he’s a West Coast guy. I know he has a home here in Atlanta. But Freddie, if he wants to play for the Atlanta Braves, he will be playing for the Atlanta Braves. I’ll leave it at that.” In other words, will the Braves do enough to entice him to stay?
"He's probably a little frustrated"
Jones was somewhat surprised this has actually gone on this long. “I haven’t talked to Freddie in quite some time, but I’m sure he’s probably a little frustrated that this wasn’t done in Spring Training last year."
The two spent a couple of seasons playing together at the end of Jones' career. Like him, Freeman has spent his entire career (thus far) with the Braves, and it culminated with a World Championship last October. The question now is, will that be his swan song in Atlanta?
“I hope he thinks about his legacy here in Atlanta... Bottom line is, Freddie I believe before it’s all said and done will be playing where he wants to play."
