MLB Rumors: Marlins Interested In Pirates All-Star Outfielder

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Marlins are expressing interest in Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds again. They tried to acquire him during the trade deadline but were unable to strike a deal.

The Pirates currently have the desire to build their franchise around Reynolds, so it will be hard for Miami to successfully acquire him. However, if the Marlins come up with a big enough offer, perhaps they could land the All-Star outfielder. Yet, it would need to be a massive one, as the 26-year-old is emerging into a legitimate star.

The 2021 season was an excellent one for Reynolds. In 159 games, he had 24 home runs, 169 hits, 90 RBIs, and a .302 batting average. Thus, he possesses a nice blend of contact and power and could be a strong number three-hitter for the Marlins. The beauty of a player like him is that he is just getting his career started, too.

The Marlins said that they would be aggressive this offseason, and thus far, they have remained true to their promise. They have already added Avisail Garcia, Joey Wendle, Jacob Stallings, and Louis Head. With that, they extended Sandy Alcantara to a nice five-year contract, too. They want to be far better than their 67-95 record from the 2021 season and finally move past their rebuild. If they managed to land Reynold, it would be a big boost to help make that happen.
