Mets Sign 2 Pitchers
The New York Mets have signed pitchers Alex Claudio and Stephen Nogosek to minor-league contracts.
Claudio comes with a plethora of major-league experience, so he will be an interesting player to watch. In 352 career games between the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Los Angeles Angels, he has a 16-10 record, 3.63 ERA, and 247 strikeouts. He struggled in 2021 with LA, though, as he had a 1-2 record, 5.51 ERA, and 30 strikeouts. He's a bounce-back candidate heading into the 2022 season, but especially when looking at his past success in the league.
Nogosek was released by the Mets in November, and it seemed like his time with the organization was over. However, the Mets have had a change of heart and signed him yet again. In eight major-league appearances, he has a 0-2 record, 9.31 ERA, and 11 strikeouts. Over his entire minor-league career, he sports an 11-13 record, 3.55 ERA, and 272 strikeouts in 170 games.
Overall, it's never a bad thing to add more arms to your organization, so let's see how these two work out for the Mets.
