Los Angeles Dodgers Sign Pitcher

The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed pitcher Sam Gaviglio to a minor league contract.

Gaviglio spent the 2021 season with the SSG Landers of the KBO League. In 15 starts with the team, he had a 6-4 record and 5.86 ERA. Overall, it wasn't the best of campaigns for him, but he will be looking to rebound back in North America with the Dodgers organization.

Gaviglio has experience as both a starter and reliever, so perhaps he could be the latter for the Dodgers big league club. He has a pretty decent chunk of experience at the major league level, too. In 98 career games between the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, and Toronto Blue Jays, he has an 11-18 record, 4.88 ERA, and 243 strikeouts. He last pitched in the majors during the 2020 season, where he had a 9.00 ERA in four appearances.

It will be interesting to see if Gaviglio has a chance to get his major league career back on track with the Dodgers. At a minimum, he could be a nice depth piece for the organization when injuries arise.
