Giants Sign 3 Players
The San Francisco Giants have signed Corey Oswalt, Luis Gonzalez, and Joe Palumbo to minor-league contracts.
Although each of three is on minor-league pacts, they both come with major-league experience. Due to this, it's fair to say that they each will be fighting for a spot on the Giants during Spring Training.
Oswalt has made appearances at the major-league level in each of the last four seasons with the New York Mets. In 26 games, which include 14 starts, he had a 4-5 record, 3.48 ERA, and 71 strikeouts. He also pitched well in 2021, as he had a 1-1 record and 3.48 ERA.
Gonzalez is an outfielder who has spent some time with the Chicago White Sox. In nine total games over the last two seasons, he had two hits in nine at-bats. In 2021 with the Charlotte Knights, he has seven home runs, 20 RBIs, and a .241 batting average.
Palumbo played two major-league seasons in 2019 and 2020 with the Texas Rangers. With them, he had a 0-4 record, 9.47 ERA, and 26 strikeouts. He spent this last season with the Round Rock Express, where he had a 1-2 record, 13.50 ERA, and seven strikeouts.
