Cameron Maybin Announces Retirement
Longtime MLB outfielder Cameron Maybin has announced his retirement.
Maybin had himself a very eventful career, to say the least. In 15 seasons, he played for 10 different teams. They include the Detroit Tigers, Florida/Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and New York Mets. In 1,162 career games, he had 72 home runs, 354 RBIs, 187 stolen bases, and a .254 batting average.
What's crazy about Maybin is that, although he was in the league for 15 seasons, he's still just 34 years old today. Thus, he was just 20 years old when he memorably hit his first major league home run against the Roger Clemens.
During his best days in the league, Maybin was a very dependable player who provided a little bit of everything. Although he never blossomed into an All-Star, he stayed in this league for longer than most. It would have been nice to see him play in 2022, but after all he's done over his career, he's earned his retirement. Congrats on a very solid career, Cameron!
