MLB and Players Making Progress on New CBA!
The MLB lockout took one step closer to being over on Monday as the league and the players held a long meeting that sounded to be productive. The two sides will meet again tomorrow, which is a great sign considering the last time they met it lasted seven minutes and they didn't meet again for six weeks.
Here's some information from some of the best insiders in the game:
The players union has agreed to drop its proposal for earlier free agency and lowered their proposal for reduced revenue sharing from $100 million to about $30 million. Talks continue tomorrow https://t.co/PpE6n8qUIX

so players will most likely still need 6+ years of service to reach FA

allowing players to reach FA earlier would have been a massive concession from MLB owners, one they didn't want to make
always seemed like a reach ... sides can now move ahead w/ shared understanding https://t.co/HIYJbP8hin
by the way.. the MLBPA’s proposal today demonstrates negotiating in good faith, something MLB didn’t do when they presented their proposal at their last meeting.

we’ve seen this movie before.
Any narrative that there is shared blame is 100% incorrect. Management had dragged its feet. Management has unilaterally locked the players out. It could end the lockout at any time. We'll see if management moves quicker this time around or if they want to miss games. /end

Look for some good news out of today's talk between #MLB and MLBPA. Both sides especially MLB know how important playing a full season is both for $ after 2020 and for the future of the game. Everything won't be solved today, but this will be a small step forward not backwards

Let's keep up the positive momentum and get back to concentrating on baseball. The MLB will lose a ton of fans if they postpone the start of next season and let's get a deal done before pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to spring training in February.
The meeting between the Major League Baseball Players Association and MLB is over. There is not a deal, nor did anyone expect one. Union made a broad proposal that included removing pieces of its past offers.

The good news: They’re meeting again tomorrow. Passes for progress.
