MLB Rumors: Blue Jays Made Huge Offer to Corey Seager

While the Toronto Blue Jays have enjoyed a decent offseason so far, word is it almost turned into a wild signing frenzy as the Blue Jays were recently outed as the mystery team involved in contract talks with Corey Seager.

Seager of course ended up signing a 10-year $325 million deal with the Texas Rangers, where he'll ironically join ex-Blue Jay Marcus Semien up the middle in Texas. The Blue Jays were willing to spend some serious bucks this summer and had Seager picked to play third base for the franchise as they already have Bo Bichette manning short.

Toronto's interest was reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan and it certainly was surprising. The team has already spent over $100 million on Kevin Gausman and has some extensions to worry about when it comes to Teoscar Hernandez, Bichette and the biggest one in Vladimir Guerrero Jr's.

The Jays project to already have $130 million, give or take, in salaries for the upcoming season so it's a great sign for the fanbase that the team is willing to continue to spend on free agents. The Blue Jays are now likely to turn their attention to their bullpen along with the what feels like, never ending search for a new third basemen.

One player who won't be in the Blue Jays lineup opening night, Corey Seager.
