Toronto Blue Jays Interested in Free-Agent SP Justin Verlander
Justin Verlander had himself a great throwing session recently and one of the teams who were intently watching were the Toronto Blue Jays. Given his history of pitching big games in Toronto, this could become an interesting match.

I’d say it’s more that due diligence based on the fit.
The Blue Jays interest in Verlander is very real and considering the team may lose both Robbie Ray and Steven Matz to free agency, Verlander presents a very intriguing option for the team. As we've seen in the past with Ray and Marcus Semien's contracts, Toronto doesn't mind shelling out the dough for short termed deals.
Verlander is coming off Tommy John surgery and has now began to ramp it up on the mound. While he will be 39 before opening day in 2022, it's obvious the veteran pitcher feels he's got lots left in the tank.
Free agent Justin Verlander has reached 95-96 mph in recent bullpen sessions, as Harold Reynolds said this morning on @MLBNetwork. Verlander, who turns 39 before next season, has said he wants to pitch until age 45. @MLB

As for potential suitors for Verlander besides the Blue Jays, look for the Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers and his old stomping grounds in Detroit with the Tigers to have different levels of interest. Verlander is lifetime 226-129 , with a 3.33 ERA over 454 career starts. His resume speaks for itself and he's going to give one rotation in the MLB a huge boost.
