Texas Rangers Sign Notable Starter
The Texas Rangers have signed pitcher Jon Gray to a four-year, $56 million contract.
Gray was viewed as one of the better starting pitchers on the open market, so the Rangers certainly should be happy that they secured him. He will help strengthen their rotation as they aim to move past their rebuilding phase. They are making progress this offseason, as they added star infielder Marcus Semien and outfielder Kole Calhoun already, too.Free-agent pitcher Jon Gray in agreement on a deal with the Texas Rangers, according to a source familiar with the situation.

In 29 starts last season with the Colorado Rockies, Gray had an 8-12 record, 4.59 ERA and 157 strikeouts. After pitching only eight games and having a 6.69 ERA in 2020, it was nice to see him rebound a bit. However, he will be looking to replicate the success he had in 2019 from here. That campaign, he sported an 11-8 record and 3.84 ERA.
In 152 games over seven seasons with the Rockies, Gray had a 53-49 record and 4.59 ERA. Now that he's out of the home run haven of Coors Field, let's see how much his statistics change in Texas.
