Tampa Bay Rays Sign Former Cy Young Award Winner

The Tampa Bay Rays have signed pitcher Corey Kluber to a one-year contract.

Kluber spent the 2021 season with the New York Yankees and did well for the most part. In 16 starts, he had a 5-3 record, 3.83 ERA and 82 strikeouts. However, the 35-year-old also once again dealt with injury trouble, as he also missed three months with a right shoulder strain. Keep in mind, he also only had eight starts over the two previous seasons due to injuries.

However, Kluber did show signs of his old self during the 2021 season and could be even stronger for Tampa Bay. It certainly isn't a bad idea to take a chance on a two-time AL Cy Young Award winner and three-time All-Star. Furthermore, with it being only a one-year contract, it doesn't come with much risk at all.

In 225 games between the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers and Yankees, Kluber has a 103-61 record and 3.19 ERA. Here's to hoping he's able to remain healthy with the Rays from here. If he does, he could be a fantastic addition for them.
