Rumor: Tampa Bay Has Huge Long-Term Contract Offer On The Table
It's not often we hear the phrase "huge long-term contract offer" associated with the Tampa Bay Rays, but when it comes to one of the top young stars to come along in many a year, it seems the Rays are willing to make an exception.
Rumor has it that the Rays have a 10-year contract on the table for Wander Franco, who burst onto the major league scene in 2021 showing his long-projected superstar potential. The deal is said to be worth far more than the 8-year, $100M deal the Atlanta Braves handed Ronald Acuna Jr. at the same stage of his career.
The deal proposed to Franco would be for a 10 year plus commitment worth between $150 - 200M. Franco batted .288 with 7 HR and 3.5 WAR, coming third in ROY voting, won by teammate @RandyArozarena 2/4. Franco's camp is studying the offer and are expected to counteroffer.

The report has the offer worth somewhere between $150-$200M. Franco's camp is said to be studying the offer, and are "expected to counteroffer."
However, a new Instagram Story posted by Franco himself on Saturday hints that he is close to signing, as witnessed by the signing emoji and his message.
No news from either side, but an interesting IG story post by Wander Franco as he considers #Rays long-term contract offer, given the signing emoji and message that translates to:

“Thanks to God for all the blessings and for being so good to us; for this reason, we love you," wrote Franco.
The Rays would do well to lock this guy up. He certainly showed flashes of the superstar he's destined to be, in his short time in the majors in 2021. He batted .288, and had an insane 43-game on-base streak — tied for the longest in the history of baseball by a player 20 years old or younger.
Rays fans just might be in for a Wander-ful offseason surprise.
