Report: 4 Teams Interested in LHP Andrew Heaney
Andrew Heaney is about to sign a new contract as the MLB free agency period is opening and there's a number of teams who would love to put pen to paper with the lefty starter.
Heaney has reportedly four teams with his name on their wish list and according to Joel Sherman of The New York Post those teams include the St Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals.
It will have to be in bounce back fashion for Heaney as he's hoping 2021 can be a better year then the season that just past. His 5.83 ERA and 1.31 WHIP was unfortunately the worst of his almost decade-long career and one of the only bright spots about his team spent between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels was the fact he was able to strike out 150 over 129 2/3 innings.
Heaney is one of those fall back options to names like Robbie Ray, Max Scherzer, Clayton Kershaw and Carlos Rodon, where once the big names get off the board will be signed up. Heaney is a career 32-38 pitcher who holds a 4.72 ERA and 650 k's across 634.1 innings.
Out of the four teams who are heavily considering Heaney, you can pencil in the Washington Nationals as the favorite. It's likely they go longer term than the others and that could certainly have the southpaw's attention.
