New York Mets Sign Veteran Outfielder
The New York Mets are staying busy, as they have agreed to terms with Mark Canha. They have signed the free agent outfielder to a two-year contract that comes with a guaranteed $26.5 million. With that, it also has a 2024 club option.
Outfielder Mark Canha and the New York Mets are nearing a deal, league sources tell ESPN. Canha, 32, is a versatile, high-on-base guy who can play all three outfield positions and first base. When finalized as expected, the Mets will have gotten better.

The Mets have suddenly gone from very quiet to extremely busy. They also signed Eduardo Escobar to a two-year contract and prized outfielder Starling Marte. Let's just say that the Mets are doing everything they can to try to get back into the postseason.
In 141 games this season with the Oakland Athletics, Canha had 17 home runs, 61 RBIs and a .231 batting average. For his standards, it was a bit of a down year at the plate, but he surely can bounce back. Keep in mind, back in 2019, he had 26 home runs, 58 RBIs and a .273 batting average. Him getting to that production again with the Mets would be massive.
Canha is a very useful player to have, as he not only can play all three outfield positions, but also first base. Thus, they have plenty of options with him and that doesn't even include if the DH rule gets applied to the NL next season.
Overall, this seems like a good move for the Mets.
