Lugo was 45 years old.#RIP
Lugo played 12 MLB seasons with the Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Devils Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves. In 1,352 games, he had 80 home runs, 475 RBIs and a .269 average.
Lugo was known for his strong fielding ability and speed, but especially during his best years with the Devil Rays. During the 2005 season, he had a career-high 39 stolen bases, as well as a .295 batting average and 182 hits.
Lugo also went on to win a World Series with the Red Sox during the 2007 season, too. As his career progressed, he became a depth player, but handled the role quite well. His final season came during the 2011 campaign with the Atlanta Braves.
We'd like to send our best wishes Lugo's family and friends. This is such devastating news.
