3 Teams Interested in Free-Agent LHP Eduardo Rodriguez

The Boston Red Sox have some competition for signing Eduardo Rodriguez as baseball insider Jon Morosi has named three other teams who have interest in bringing in the left-handed starter.

The 28-year-old southpaw had a great season for the Red Sox after sitting out the entire 2020 season. In 2021, Rodriguez posted a 13-8 record with a 4.74 ERA. He struck out 185 batters and only walked 46 over 157.2 innings of work. Rodriguez only knows the Red Sox as he's spent his entire six year career in Bean Town so far, and he was a part Toronto's starters ranked third in the AL with a 3.79 ERA and the team will look to ensure they are as strong as ever in 2022.

The Tigers and Angels on the other hand are both willing to spend money on their rotation this winter. The Angels have a solid lineup and need the pitching to compliment their group. Mike Trout is getting sick and tired of losing and it could be a disaster for the franchise if it continues.

Detroit is going to spend hundreds of millions this offseason and it could all start with Rodriguez. He was a member of the Red Sox team who won the World Series in 2018.

It makes a ton of sense for the Blue Jays to be involved on the lefty starter as the team is likely losing both Steven Matz and Robbie Ray from their rotation and they know Rodriguez well from their battles in the AL East. Last season

Detroit's offseason could all start with Rodriguez. He's already turned down a multi-year deal from the Red Sox, which was reportedly in the ball park of $18 million per season.

Look for Rodriguez to land himself a five-year deal as he's on the good side of 30 and one of the best left-handed pitching options on the open market. While these three teams are interested, the bidding war could get out of hand in the next couple of weeks.
