3 Potential Landing Spots For Matt Olson

With the Oakland Athletics embracing a full-on rebuild, Matt Olson is another star who could be on the move. The 27-year-old's value is extremely high at the moment, too, as he just had an All-Star season and also isn't eligible for unrestricted free agency until 2024.

In 156 games during the 2021 campaign, Olson had 39 home runs, 111 RBIs and a .271 batting average. With this, there will be a plethora of teams interested in him. Here are three specific teams who come to mind.

New York Yankees: It's already been established that the Yankees are heavily interested in Olson. It's easy to understand why, as Anthony Rizzo is a free agent and could very well elect to sign elsewhere. Olson is also coming off of a fantastic year, while Rizzo struggled a bit. Although it would require the Yankees to give up a good amount, it seems worth it.

Milwaukee Brewers: The Brewers could look to upgrade at first base in hopes of having a deep playoff run in 2022. Rowdy Tellez did well at the plate after being traded from the Blue Jays there. However, there's no denying that Olson would be a superior option for them, as he has the potential to hit 40 home runs, while also being a two-time Gold Glove winner.

Seattle Mariners: Unlike their AL West rivals, the Mariners are looking to take a step forward and be contenders. Therefore, this could lead the A's and Mariners to strike an Olson trade. The Mariners could utilize Olson as either their first baseman or even DH, so they wouldn't have trouble fitting him in at all. He would also give them a much-needed power bat, too.
