VIDEO: Mariners Announcer Goes Viral With Play Call of the Year! "HEY NOW!"

It's been a fairy tale run for the Seattle Mariners this month, but Saturday night, they were one inning away from being eliminated from the American League Wild Card chase. That's when Mitch Haniger played the hero, and Mariners' play-by-play man Dave Sims was caught on camera making the Play Call of the Year!

The emotion in Sims' call was palpable.. And wonderful. “Biggest pitch of the year here for the Mariners... 3-and-2, bases loaded... The pitch!...." And Haniger's base hit to give the M's the lead and save their season had Sims up out of his seat, shouting "I'm telling you!...HEY NOW! HEY NOW! HEY NOW!”

The video of Sims' call has received well over a million views, and counting.

He received shout-outs from all over the sports world, complimenting and thanking him.

The likes of ESPN SportsCenter's Dave Van Pelt, Twitter celebrity (and former NBA player) Rex Chapman, baseball media empire Jomboy, and even other play-by-play announcers and beat writers from around the league all reached out on Twitter to give shout-outs to Dave Sims.

Loved by everyone he touches, Sims is the flagship bearer for Mariners baseball. A team that's trying to get back to the playoffs for the first time in 20 years.

“It has been a generation, and I’m hearing from people who said, ‘hey, I wasn’t even born in ’95.’ And then you hear from people who were around,” Sims told MyNorthWest. “But I look at this as a totally different situation — new team, new players, new legends, new highlights — and it’s very exciting. Heck, I woke up excited. I haven’t even had my coffee.”

All eyes—and ears—will be on Seattle today, as they try to bump one of the big boys of the AL East out of the Wild Card picture on the final day of the regular season.
