"Oh, Lord!": Kike Hernandez Making Playoff History
The Boston Red Sox have found their own Mr. October. Kike Hernandez has been the hottest hitter on any team in the postseason, and even before his Game 2 continued outburst, established a series of all-time baseball playoff records.
Kiké Hernández is now 11-18 (.611) with 3 HR and 7 RBI in his last 4 postseason games.

With 11 hits in four games after Game 1, along with 3 HR and 7 RBI, nobody has ever put up that combination of numbers in a 4-game span.
His 29 total bases in those four games has been surpassed only by the original Mr. October, Reggie Jackson. And according to ESPN Stats & Info., there are a number of other records Hernandez now holds:
- All-time high three career playoff games with 10+ total bases
- First leadoff hitter with 2 HR and 4 hits in a single playoff game (set in Game 1 of ALCS)
- Tied with three others as the only players to have multiple 4+ hit games in a single postseason
Kiké Hernández's 9 extra-base hits in the last 5 games are the most in a 5-game span in postseason history
