Max Muncy Unlikely To Play Wild Card Game
The Los Angeles Dodgers are losing one of their stars at the worst time. In today's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Max Muncy had to leave due to a collision at first base with Jace Peterson. It appears that the 31-year-old first baseman may have a serious injury, as manager Dave Roberts has already said it's "very unlikely" that he will be able to play in the wild card game.
#Dodgers MGR Dave Roberts said it's "very unlikely" that 1B Max Muncy, who suffered left-elbow injury today, will play Wednesday's NL wild-card game vs. #Cardinals, "but as we look out, hopefully it increases the possibility" of Muncy playing later in post-season.

This is a serious loss, as Muncy is one of the Dodgers' top hitters. The truth is in his stats this season. In 143 games, he had 36 home runs, 94 RBIs and a .250 batting average. Naturally, his production at the plate made him an All-Star.
Even if the Dodgers end up beating the St. Louis Cardinals in the wild card game, there's no telling when Muncy will be able to play again. Thus, this could have a long-term impact on the Dodgers' quest to repeat as champions.
Here's to hoping Max can play again soon, as baseball is always more entertaining when he's on the field.
