Jose Ramirez Opens Up About Playing Future
If it was up to Jose Ramirez he would be staying with the Cleveland Indians. The veteran third baseman has heard his name involved with trade rumors and it appears he's not interested in joining any other team.
Ramirez told Zack Meisel of The Athletic he wants to stay in Cleveland for the rest of his career. This is certainly some surprising news just considering the timing of it all. Ramirez is still under contract for two more seasons on two team options, but at this point Cleveland has yet to make a decision.
The 29-year-old infielder was rumored to be heading to the Toronto Blue Jays this offseason as the two teams have held trade discussions as recent as this past July. The two teams will once again chat this winter but it sounds like Ramirez has no interest in skipping town.
The three-time AL MVP finalist wants to negotiate a new deal before next season. In his nine years in Cleveland Ramirez has recorded 163 HR, 540 RBI and 154 SB.
