The financials of the deal have yet to be disclosed, however there is a press conference scheduled on Friday where all the beans will be spilled. Wainwright has been a staple with the Cardinals for over a decade and it's great to see him potentially pitch out his final season with the club next year.
So far this season, the 40-year-old veteran is 17-7 with a 3.05ERA, impressing the hell out of his teammates and fellow peers across the league. The Cardinals have been the hottest team in baseball in the second half of this season and a big part of their success is the fact Wainwright has turned back the clock and is pitching the lights out.
Cardinals fans are going to be thrilled with this news and we can't blame them one bit.
