3 Potential Landing Spots For Kyle Schwarber
Kyle Schwarber is another popular player who is set to become a free agent. The 28-year-old is coming off of a marvelous season that saw him make his first All-Star game. In 113 games between the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox, he had 32 home runs, 71 RBIs and a .266 batting average. Plenty of teams will be looking to sign him, so yes, he's in for a big raise.
Boston Red Sox: Schwarber ended up being a perfect match with the Red Sox after they acquired him. In 41 regular season games with the BoSox, he had seven home runs, 18 RBIs and a .291 batting average. He also hit three home runs during the postseason and played well at first base for the team, He became beloved quickly in the city, it's hard to imagine the Red Sox won't at least try to re-sign him.
Milwaukee Brewers: The Brewers need more offense in their lineup and an upgrade to their outfield. Thus, this absolutely should make them pursue Schwarber this off-season. He would provide them with a true power bat in their lineup, which is something that could help them take that next step as a franchise. Thy had a fantastic 95-67 record this season, but they fell to the Atlanta Braves 3-1 in the NLDS. Don't be surprised to see them be aggressive this off-season because of that.
Philadelphia Phillies: The Phillies need to be better next season and Schwarber could certainly help with that. A Schwarber signing makes a lot of sense if the Phillies decide to decline their $15 million team option with Andrew McCutchen. It seems probable that they do given his struggles to hit for contact this season. Furthermore, if we end up officially getting the universal DH rule, Schwarber could also be a perfect candidate for that role, too.
