Video: Cardinals Cap Historic Win Streak With Mind-Boggling 3-2-5-4-2-8-6 Double Play

The St. Louis Cardinals have ridden a legendary winning streak into a firm grasp of a Wild Card spot in the National League. Their 15th straight win on Saturday broke an 86-year-old franchise record, set in 1935.

And perhaps no play exemplifies this team more than the insane 3-2-5-4-2-8-6  double play they pulled off in the 8th inning.

As noted by Jayson Stark, this is the longest winning streak in the 140-year history of the St. Louis Cardinals, spanning over 21,000 games.

Saturday they came back against the Chicago Cubs with six runs in the 7th-through-9th innings, for an 8-5 win, their 15th in a row. Harrison Bader had four hits in the game, and the outfielder was actually part of the mind-blowing double play:

"It's about time I got in on one of those double plays! I've been waiting for years!" said Bader afterwards. "That was awesome to be a part of."

On September 7th, the Cards were one game over .500, at 69-68, and had a 2.8% chance of landing a Wild Card spot. Today, they are 86-69, and have 99.7% odds of taking the 2nd WC. All thanks to their franchise-defining winning streak.
