Video: Benches Clear Between Mets and Yankees
Giancarlo Stanton of the New York Yankees belted a game-tying home run off New York Mets reliever Brad Hand, and what came after had people's blood boiling. Stanton went on to chirp Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor as he was trotting by and next thing you know, the benches cleared.
Turns out there was lots to unfold in this wild game as the Stanton gesture may have been in retaliation to Lindor who earlier in the game hit two dingers, and was seen whistling towards the Yankees dugout. Why can't everyone just get along?
The tension likely stemmed from Saturday night's contest when infielder Jonathan Villar reportedly heard whistles coming from the Yankees dugout before starter Taijuan Walker threw his pitches. Villar called a mound meeting to tell Walker that he might be tipping his pitches and the Yankees were signaling which ones were coming
