Jacob deGrom Shut Down For Rest Of Season
Noah Syndergaard may be returning for the New York Mets, but ace Jacob deGrom has now been shut down for the season. Ultimately, it makes sense though, as there is no reason to risk having deGrom injure himself further. The Mets currently have a 73-82 record and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
deGrom was well on his way to win his third Cy Young award in four seasons. However, the 33-year-old has not pitched for the Mets since July, so that sadly ruined his chances. In 15 starts this season, he was once again lights out, as he sported a 7-2 record and 1.08 ERA.The Mets have decided that Jacob deGrom will not pitch in a game this season. He's been shut down.

The Mets will need deGrom to be fully healthy for the 2022 season if they hope to get back into the postseason. He is their top pitcher and the primary reason for when they have success. Here's to hoping he's able to come back strongly next year. Baseball's far more entertaining when he's around.
