Yankees Reach 35-Year High Winning Streak
On July 4th, the New York Yankees were one game over .500, and sat 10.5 games back of the Boston Red Sox for the AL East lead. They were given only a 37.8% chance of making the playoffs, according to Fangraphs.
Now, after sweeping the NL Central leading Atlanta Braves, the Yankees are on an 11-game winning streak—the team's longest since 1985—and are 22 games over .500, 2.5 games ahead of the Red Sox, and with 94% odds of making the playoffs.
