Video: Chris Sale Throws Immaculate Inning
It appears Chris Sale is getting quite comfortable on the mound again. In just his third start since returning from Tommy John Surgery, the 32-year-old veteran threw an immaculate inning tonight against the Minnesota Twins. Here's a quick video of his dominating work.
This is a notable accomplishment for Sale, as it is the third time he has done it in his career. He joins Sandy Koufax as the only pitchers to ever achieve this feat on that many occasions.
If Sale can keep this form rolling, he will be a big help for the Red Sox during their end of the season push. He also was quite effective in his last start, as he threw five scoreless innings against the Texas Rangers. In his first game, he allowed two runs in five innings of work. He also had a combined 13 strike outs in those games.
In five innings of work thus far, he has allowed a two-run home run to Willians Astudillo, but also has struck out eight batters. Nothing will top his immaculate inning though, of course.
