Blue Jays Hand Brad Hand His Walking Papers
Just one month after acquiring him at the trade deadline for catcher Riley Adams, the Toronto Blue Jays have DFA'd (designated for assignment, i.e. waived) reliever Brad Hand.
It's not a surprising move, as Hand has had his lunch handed to him nearly every time he took the mound for Toronto. He compiled an ugly 7.27 ERA with the Blue Jays, along with a 1.85 WHIP in 11 appearances. Batters hit a whopping .351 off him, with a 1.012 OPS. It was a downright dumpster fire.
Brad Hand has made every batter he faced the past 6 weeks look like the best hitter in baseball.

“This is probably the toughest stretch I’ve ever been through in my career,”he told @Wilnerness before today's #BlueJays game. Here's what else he had to say: https://t.co/4YkbS4IXAw

Washington Nationals fans are none too surprised, as they watched Hand blow 3 saves in his final 5 appearances for the team, after compiling 21 saves earlier in the season.
In return, the Nationals got a very serviceable catcher, as Riley Adams has a 1.010 OPS for them since the trade.
Biggest fleece in Blue Jays History?

Not just trading away Riley Adams, but a destructive 7.27 ERA in 11 Games from Brad Hand
The 31-year-old Hand does have 126 career saves, and is a 3-time former All-Star. But it's become apparent that the Jays were indeed dealt a bad Hand.
