Yankees Trades Coming: Hal Steinbrenner "Frustrated and Angry", Ready To Spend Big
New York Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner is fed up with the team's state of affairs, and says he's "absolutely" ready to go over the 'competitive balance tax' if that's what it takes to improve the team at the trade deadline.
Hal Steinbrenner said he is “aggravated, frustrated and angry.” He is challenging the #Yankees’ players to “fix this problem.” https://t.co/wo4dTtkyGw

"If I feel we're not good enough and we need another piece to be the championship-caliber team that we want to be and expect to be," said Steinbrenner, "then I'm going to seriously consider doing whatever I need to do."
This more or less echoes general manager Brian Cashman's earlier declarations that "we suck" and that the Yankees are buyers at the deadline. And now that Hal says he's ready to open the wallet, expect some big moves.
Yankees' MLB beat report Bryan Hoch says Steinbrenner is "aggravated frustrated and angry" at the team's underwhelming play, and says "we're not going to get down... We're going to do everything to win, win, win."
These days, of course, the Yankees are doing more losing, losing. losing. Due to rainouts, they've now had two full days to stew on their crushing 9th inning loss to the Angels very early Thursday morning, when closer Aroldis Chapman gave up the first grand slam of his career, a defeat that sent him scurrying off of social media.
The Yanks are now 9 games back of the division-leading Red Sox, and in 4th place in the AL East.
