Update: Ronald Acuna Jr. Done For The Season
The Atlanta Braves have announced that Ronald Acuna Jr. has torn his right ACL and will be out for the rest of the season. The severity of the injury will also require him to get surgery. After injuring himself leaping for a Jazz Chisholm flyball, Acuna tried to walk off the field on his own accord. Yet, he eventually sat down on the ground due to the pain he was in. From there, he was visibly upset whilst being carted off the field.
Although his reaction made it seem that his injury was severe, it still is awful to hear it confirmed. Since winning the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2018, Acuna has been one of the most electrifying players in all of baseball. He was on pace for his second 40-home run season in just four years, but this injury has crushed any chance of that.
This also is extremely negative for the Braves, as they are currently 44-44 and four games behind the Mets for first in the NL East. Losing Acuna for the season makes their chances of winning the division much lower, as it is impossible to replace such an integral part of the lineup.
