Trade Rumor: Chicago White Sox Want This All-Star Second Baseman

The Chicago White Sox are now looking to trade for Pirates second baseman, Adam Frazier, according to Jon Heyman. This makes a lot of sense, as the White Sox are currently first in the AL Central and are looking to have a deep playoff run. However, they do need an upgrade at second base and Frazier certainly would be.

Frazier is having a career season, as he was just named the NL's starting second baseman for the MLB All-Star Game. His fantastic statistics warrant this honor. In 79 games this season, the 29-year-old has a .326 batting average to go along with 101 hits. This kind of production is something that all MLB teams would love to have at the top of their batting order. Therefore, it makes sense that the White Sox want him.

Frazier is also under team control until the end of the 2022 season, so the White Sox would be able to keep him for next season. With the Pirates being 29-52 and clearly rebuilding, it is time to trade Frazier to maximize the assets coming back. They cannot allow Frazier to leave the team freely after the 2022 season.

The White Sox have a pretty complete team, but do need to get a true starting second baseman. Nick Madrigal is done for the year and his replacements are just not getting it done. Bringing in Frazier would be the best case move to fix this, as it would add a true star to an already deep lineup. We shall see what ends up occurring with Frazier shortly.
