Pittsburgh Pirates And First Overall Pick Come To Terms
The Pittsburgh Pirates and 2021 first overall pick Henry Davis have reached an agreement on a contract, according to Jon Heyman. He is expected to sign it today.
The 21-year-old catcher is coming off of a fantastic season with the University of Louisville. In 50 games played, he hit 15 home runs and had a .370 batting average. The Pirates are surely hoping that this mix of contact and power can translate over to the MLB level in the future. If so, he could be a real threat in the middle of their batting order.Catcher Henry Davis, the No. 1 pick, and Pirates have an agreement now. Not yet signed. He’s in Pittsburgh. @JMackeyPG 1st

Davis has also been noted for his excellent fielding ability, so that is something fans of the Pirates should be looking forward to as well. Although it may take him a bit of time to develop in the minors, he has all the tools to become the long-term catcher of the Pirates. It is just is a matter of remaining patient at this point.
If Davis can reach his full potential, the Pirates may end up having a true star on their hands. With all of their struggles over the years, they truly deserve something good to happen.
