Marlins Pitcher To Undergo Season-Ending Shoulder Surgey
After an extremely promising 2020, in which he established himself as an ace for the Miami Marlins in his rookie season, things haven't gone as well for Sixto Sanchez this season. Shoulder inflammation has kept him out all season to this point, and now he will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.
Tough news for the #Marlins who announce that ace Sixto Sanchez will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. An MRI revealed a small tear in the posterior capsule of his right shoulder.

The Marlins hope he'll be able to return next spring.
Sanchez originally developed inflammation in his shoulder during a spring training game. He had been throwing again for the last four weeks, and was extending his throwing distance, up to 120 feet. But a recent MRI found a small tear in the posterior capsule of his right shoulder.
Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports that the team is hoping for Sanchez to be ready to go for spring training 2022.
Sanchez is listed as the Marlins' top prospect, after throwing 39 ace-like innings in 2020.
