Dodgers Want Trevor Bauer to Pitch Sunday Despite Assault Investigation
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer is slated to make his next start on Sunday against the Washington Nationals despite an ongoing investigation by the league and authorities into sexual assault allegations.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media and said it's out of the team's hands but at this point he expects Bauer to pitch:
It's out of our hands. I'm in the position of following the lead of Major League Baseball. Their recommendation was for us to - he was our scheduled Sunday starter, and to move forward and have him start that game on Sunday. And so for me to try to read into it any more outside of just following what they had advised me and us to do, I just choose to follow kind of their lead
No formal charges have been filed, and a hearing is scheduled for July 23. Many are calling for MLB to put Bauer on administrative leave until this has all played out in court. Expect to see some more details to emerge this weekend.
