Chicago Cubs Team President: Time For an Overhaul

The Chicago Cubs are reeling, and ready to blow things up. An 11-game losing streak will do that to you.

Team President Jed Hoyer told reporters today that 11 days ago they were looking at "buying" at the trade deadline. But, "Life comes at you fast. Eleven games changes a lot of things."

Two weeks ago, the Cubs were in 1st place in the division. Now they sit in 4th place, 8.5 games out.

Hoyer says the Cubs are looking at an overhaul, and it appears they're ready to enter the seller's market. And they have a LOT of wares to display. Fully half the team's roster will be free agents at the end of the season. Not the least of which are key cogs from their World Series team: Kris Bryant, Javy Lopez and Anthony Rizzo.

Closer Craig Kimbrel is also at the top of team's shopping lists

Let's face it though, Hoyer started the disassembly this past offseason when he dealt ace starter Yu Darvish to the San Diego Padres. That was a tough pill to swallow for Cubs players and fans alike.

Now, Hoyer seems to admit the time has come to finish the job. "I'll be on the phone a lot in the next three weeks."
