Blue Jays Return to Rogers Centre Could Be Sooner Than Expected!

It appears the Toronto Blue Jays are two steps closer to returning to the friendly confines of Rogers Centre in Toronto. A Sportsnet report says they've already gotten municipal and provincial approval, and are now just waiting on the federal government, with hopes of returning by July 30th.

According to Shi Davidi's report, the Jays are aiming for a 10-game homestand that begins on July 30th for their long-awaited return to their home country.

If that doesn't pan out, there's a 7-game homestand that begins on Aug. 20th that would be the next target date.

On Monday, Canada is easing some border restrictions, and will no longer require fully vaccinated travellers entering the country to wait out a 14-day quarantine in a hotel. The new report says this is the impetus for the renewed push, and renewed hope, by Blue Jays officials.

The Jays have been playing their 'home games' this season in Dunedin, Florida, and Buffalo, New York, due to the pandemic border restrictions.

Expect a massive welcome home party from Blue Jay fans, when the date, whenever it is, finally arrives.
