Blockbuster Deal Expected from Blue Jays and Twins
The Toronto Blue Jays are trying hard to land at least one more starting pitcher and have circled the Minnesota Twins. The Jays have a ton of interest in Twins starters Jose Berrios and J.A Happ and are willing to pay up some middle infield prospects to make it happen.
The #BlueJays and #Twins are potential trade partners this week. Minnesota has @MLB pitching and needs up-the-middle position players. The Toronto system has them: Martin, Groshans, O. Martínez, O. López. Also, Derek Falvey worked with Shapiro and Atkins in CLE. @MLBNetwork

The two are vastly different pitchers for multiple reasons, including being almost ten years apart in age. Berrios is having himself a fine season on a very bad team in Minnesota and currently sits with a 7-5 record and a 3.48 ERA. He possesses swing and miss stuff with 126 punch outs in 121 innings and is under team control until 2023. He's one of the top pitching targets on the trade market at the moment so the Jays will have to ante up if they want to land Berrios from Minny.
The Blue Jays are apparently willing to move any of their prospects not named Nate Pearson or Austin Martin and have a slew of talent up the middle. The team has drafted a ton of shortstops lately as management feels they are some of the best athletes who could potentially play multiple positions.
For the #BlueJays, the emergence of infield prospect Orelvis Martínez is a major story. At age 19, he has a .979 OPS at Class A Dunedin. Martínez’s ascent could make Martin or Groshans more available in a trade, or Martínez may be the centerpiece himself. @MLBPipeline @Sportsnet

The Twins need all the help they can get and if they are serious about moving their best pitcher, they are going to want a boat load in return. Lots can happen between now and Friday, but as of right now it sure sounds like a blockbuster deal could be coming from these two teams.
