Big News On The Max Scherzer Sweepstakes
According to Jon Heyman, if Max Scherzer ends up traded, he wants to be dealt to a winning team on the west coast.
When looking at the western MLB teams, there certainly are some good options for Scherzer. The San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are all having very strong seasons and barring any sudden collapses, are playoff bound. In the AL West, the Houston Astros also could look to trade for him, as they would benefit from adding another arm to the rotation.Nats probably can’t wait right until the deadline on Scherzer since teams will want to review medicals (even though triceps tweak is not seen as serious) and he has veto power. He’s said to prefer winner and West Coast.

The Washington Nationals are going to be sellers, as they sport a 45-54 record and the postseason seems out of reach. Scherzer has still been very solid, though, as he is currently 7-4 and has a 2.83 ERA. He also made it to his eighth All-Star Game this month, too.
This may mean that an eastern team will not be acquiring Scherzer by the deadline. We will have to pay close attention to this saga as it continues.
