Big Blow for the Brewers as COVID Protocols Claim Team Leader
This is the reality of playing in the 2021 season. Getting vaccinated helps keep players in the lineup, but even that is sometimes not enough. Now the Milwaukee Brewers will be without team leader Christian Yelich for a minimum of 10 days.
Christian Yelich, who is fully vaccinated, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Yelich is fully vaccinated, but nevertheless has tested positive, and has some mild symptoms. According to MLB protocols, he will be out a minimum of 10 days, while Jace Peterson, after contact tracing, has also been placed on the Covid IL, and is out for a minimum of 7 days.
Craig Counsell, manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, told MLB Network Radio this afternoon that "we're fortunate it's only two players.... We'll have to exercise some caution here for a little while."
For Yelich, the season has been a struggle since Day 1. He's suffered from back problems, and missed two long stretches of action, and since he has been back, has only hit .235 with 6 home runs.
