Atlanta Braves Acquire Stephen Vogt From The Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded former All-Star catcher Stephen Vogt to the Atlanta Braves for minor leaguer Mason Berne.
In 52 games with the D-Backs this season, Vogt hit five home runs and had a .212 batting average. Due to the fact that he has one year left on his contract and is a veteran, it makes sense that the Diamondbacks traded him. They currently are 26-67 and will be sellers at the trade deadline.
With Travis d'Arnaud not expected to return until August, it makes sense that the Braves are looking to improve at catcher. Kevan Smith has struggled as the starting catching, so bringing in Vogt should help a bit. The Braves are currently 44-46 and four games behind the NL East leading Mets.
As for Berne, he has played five games this season with the Florida Complex League Braves. The 25-year-old first baseman hit a home run and batted .250.
