Video: Ump Tosses Bat and Hits White Sox Jose Abreu
Here's something you don't see every day. Umpire Erich Bacchus was trying to clear away the bat from the batter's box as the runner was approaching home, all while Jose Abreu was trying to help out and let's just say it didn't end well for the Chicago White Sox slugger.
The play happened during the first inning of Wednesday night's contest against the Toronto Blue Jays. It was obvious Bacchus didn't see Abreu and this was all just some bad timing. Abreu was hit in the leg and despite the pain, stayed in the game after staying on the ground for an extended period of time.
#MVPthings... Abreu takes a bat to the knee and, to the surprise of absolutely no one, stays in game for the next at bat pic.twitter.com/POwJuUfGMi
