Trevor Story To Compete in Home Run Derby on Home Turf
It's highly expected that the Colorado Rockies will be trading star shortstop Trevor Story come this year's trade deadline at the end of July, so let's call this a home field send-off for Story at Coors Field, as he announces that he will compete in the HR Derby on July 12th. It's Story's first time in the contest, and he is stoked!

“I wanted to do it in front of the hometown crowd here in Denver," said Story. "I thought I’d just go out there and have some fun because it’s always something that’s been on my radar.”
Rumors have been running rampant about Story's next destination, with the Milwaukee Brewers and Oakland A's thought to be prime candidates as a trade partner for the Rockies. So this should be one big love-in for the Denver fans, a chance to show their appreciation for the 2-time all-star, after six years of service.
Story is having a bit of a down year, with only 9 HR and 34 RBI to this point, but his power has been well-documented at Coors Field, and he's excited to put on a show at the Derby.
“I remember as a kid watching the derby and being so amazed by the performances that were put on,” Story said. “It’s surreal to be able to now compete in that event.”
Story joins Shohei Ohtani, Pete Alonso (the 2019 champion), and Trey Mancini as the first four to confirm their participation in this year's contest.
