Trade Rumor: Seattle Mariners Receiving Offers for RF Mitch Haniger
The Seattle Mariners have some big decisions to make with their roster this season and one name to watch for is right fielder Mitch Haniger. Rumor has it there's already a ton of interest in acquiring Haniger and management has been receiving some trade offers these past couple of weeks.
So far this season the 30-year-old is having a fine season, batting .254 and smacking 14 HR and recording 38 RBI. Haniger's also scored 41 times and has collected a total of 61 hits. It's his fourth season in Seattle and he's shown he's capable of producing some big numbers and if he could ever find that consistency he strives for, he'd easily be a 30HR-100RBI hitter.
The former first-round pick is arbitration eligible next season and is set to become a free agent in 2023. The Mariners are going to see how it plays out with their team as they are only 6 games back at the moment. A couple of series losses in a row could change the direction of this season for them awfully quickly. Seattle has a deep core of young outfielders including the likes of Kyle Lewis, Jarred Kelenic, Julio Rodriguez and Taylor Trammell, so naturally Haniger becomes expendable. Look for his name to come across a trade board near you in the very near future.
