Rumor: Max Scherzer On The Trade Block!
This season hasn't quite gone as planned for the Washington Nationals, sitting in 4th place in the NL East at 25-33.
Ace Max Scherzer, at 37, will be a free agent at season's end, and the Nationals would do well to get a big haul for him now. The 3-time Cy Young Award winner is still at the top of his game, with a National League-leading 104 strikeouts and a 2.22 ERA.
Scherzer's hometown is St. Louis. And it just so happens that the St. Louis Cardinals are in desperate need of a dominant starting pitcher, after their own ace, Jack Flaherty recently went down for two months with an oblique injury.

But with a game-changing talent like Scherzer available, there could be quite the bidding war for his services. Other teams have been mentioned as well, including the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs.
